Poll No. 210
The latest public opinion poll conducted by the Palestinian Center for Public Opinion (PCPO) revealed clear differences in attitudes between residents of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip regarding several current political issues:
- Appointment of Hussein Al-Sheikh: A limited number of respondents strongly supported his appointment as Deputy President of the State of Palestine, while many expressed opposition. Notably, a significant rise in neutral opinions was observed, especially in the West Bank.
- President Mahmoud Abbas's Recent Speech: The speech received mixed reactions. Some viewed it as politically realistic, while others criticized both its timing and content.
- Hamas Initiative on Truce and Prisoner Exchange Deal: This initiative received broad public support, particularly in the Gaza Strip.
- Hamas’s Reaction to Al-Sheikh's Appointment: The movement's description of the appointment as “a consolidation of unilateralism” sparked division between supporters and opponents. Rejection was more pronounced in Gaza, whereas relative support was recorded in the West Bank.
These findings highlight the continued political and geographic division in Palestinian public opinion.
We are glad to announce that, in the meantime, the Palestinian Center for Public Opinion (PCPO) is conducting a comprehensive new public opinion poll on President Donald Trump’s visit to Saudi Arabia and the anticipated role of the Kingdom in supporting the Palestinian cause. This ongoing survey aims to capture Palestinian views on normalization, regional diplomacy, and the future of the Palestinian issue in light of recent developments. The results will provide valuable insights into public sentiment at this critical moment.
